This nomination is a reflection of our dedication to fostering community and economic vitality in Jamaica, Queens. We work every day to create spaces that prioritize people, support local businesses, and bring our community together. Here’s a look at just some of the initiatives we’re proud to be a part of: ?? Managing vibrant public spaces like the 165th Street Open Street and Parsons Boulevard Public Plaza ?? Hosting temporary public art installations like the Big Apple and Light Lane that engage the community ?? Hosting vibrant family friendly events like the Trick or Streets Halloween event and the Harvest Festival ?? Organizing youth-led clean-up days to keep our streets clean and beautiful ?? Downtown Jamaica Partnership (South East Queens) This organization fosters community and economic vitality in Jamaica, supporting local businesses and prioritizing people-centered streets. They currently manage the 165th Street Open Street, a pedestrian plaza in front of the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, and a public plaza on Parsons Boulevard. They’ve also hosted several temporary public art installations, they are planning youth community clean up days, and are working to bring farmer’s and holiday markets to the area. ? 31st Avenue Open Street Collective - Astoria This collective is a 501c3 nonprofit working to build community-centered streets and public spaces in Astoria. They’ve been managing the neighborhood’s popular Open Street for five years. With well over two dozen long-term volunteers and a community of nearly 100 neighbors who volunteer their time, they organize street cleanups, murals, public seating, and block parties. ? Sunset Park BID - created by local merchants in 1995 Since 1995, the Sunset Park Business Improvement District has been working to build community and boost business in one of Brooklyn’s most bustling neighborhoods.
