One of our favorite Dallas traditions is right around the corner! The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot returns to Downtown on Thanksgiving morning, November 28! For over five decades, the Turkey Trot has brought together families, friends, and colleagues in the heart of our Downtown, embodying the vibrant, community-focused spirit that makes our district special. DDI has secured a special $7 discount for our stakeholders using the code DOWNTOWN7 at registration. We encourage you to be part of this Downtown tradition that showcases our district at its most festive and welcoming! https://lnkd.in/gi-y3dMt

I was thrilled to host a panel discussion with friends and partners yesterday at the Dallas Assembly luncheon. The topic was one of my favorites, "Downtown Dallas: What's New? What's Next?" Joining me at the lovely Arlington Hall at Turtle Creek Park was Jonas Woods, of WOODS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, LLC, Rae Clay, of Housing Forward, and Chief Dominique Artis, City of Dallas Chief of Public Safety. Our conversation touched on: -- The incredible transformation of Downtown, including Woods-backed office-to-residential conversions. -- The unique partnership between the City of Dallas, Housing Forward, and Downtown Dallas, Inc. on the "Street to Home" initiative to rehouse more than 100 people experiencing homelessness in Downtown. -- How the City will face the challenges of recently approved City Charter changes, including a mandate to quickly hire hundreds of new police officers. Thank you to Marvin Singleton, Suzan Kedron, and Raymond Ferrell for featuring us on the program.

Jennifer Scripps from Downtown Dallas, Inc. said it best: "Every single link, whether you're helping with IDs at The Stewpot, supporting enforcement, or ultimately handing someone the keys to their apartment—changes lives." We can’t say it enough: THANK YOU to the All Neighbors Coalition! 👏 The Street to Home initiative is only possible because of the support of our incredible partners, including: The City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions, Downtown Dallas Inc., Austin Street Center, Metro Relief, Inc., The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, The Stewpot, Under1Roof, Metrocare Services, North Texas Behavioral Health Authority, Parkland Community Health Plan, and Dallas Housing Authority. Every single All Neighbors Coalition member is changing lives! If you’re interested in joining this incredible group of over 150 organizations, consider becoming a member in the new year. I am extremely proud of the partnership between my employer Downtown Dallas, Inc. and Jesuit Dallas, my alma mater. For the past two years, DDI's Homeless Outreach Team has partnered with Jesuit's senior community service program. Five seniors join DDI every Wednesday morning to work alongside outreach professionals, helping to lift individuals out of homelessness and into permanent housing. Today, I had the honor of speaking to the class of 2025 about social justice, community service, and continuing their commitment to service post-graduation. I was joined by Lisa Marshall from Fighting Homelessness , who discussed her mission to address systemic issues that contribute to homelessness and advocate for rehousing unhoused individuals. My Jesuit education instilled in me a lifelong commitment to community service. I am proud to see the school's continued dedication to developing young men who are committed to making a difference in the world and growing into men for others.

Last Wednesday, the Dallas City Council approved two transformative initiatives: 1️⃣ Selection of the Trinity Alliance Team for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas Redevelopment: This marks a significant milestone in the visionary redevelopment of the Convention Center, ensuring Downtown’s future as a premier urban and economic hub. The Trinity Alliance, led by DDI member companies AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction Company, includes 14 local MWBE firms, seven of which are female-owned. Their commitment to creating economic opportunities and fostering an inclusive local workforce, combined with an impressive track record on iconic projects like SoFi Stadium and the Titans Stadium, positions this team for success. 2️⃣ Advancing the Dallas Streetcar Central Link: City Council also authorized a Streetcar Operation and Maintenance Study with Gresham Smith. This study will evaluate funding and operational models for the Streetcar Central Link, a critical step toward expanding the streetcar network through Downtown! These milestones are the result of strong collaboration among stakeholders, and together, these advancements ensure Downtown Dallas continues to thrive as a hub for innovation, accessibility, and community impact. #DowntownDallas #Infrastructure #UrbanDevelopment #MobilityTransformation

This summer, Michelin began evaluating Dallas restaurants for the first time, marking an incredible milestone for our city’s vibrant dining scene! We’re thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Crown Block, Tei-An, and Monarch, which earned spots on Michelin’s prestigious "Recommended" list. These accolades reflect the exceptional quality, creativity, and innovation that define Downtown’s culinary offerings. Special congratulations to Tatsu in Deep Ellum, which earned Dallas’ only Michelin star! This well-deserved recognition places our city firmly on the global culinary map and highlights the talent and passion that fuel our restaurant community. Dallas is proving itself as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts, and we couldn’t be prouder of the role Downtown plays in that journey. Want to explore all 28 DFW restaurants honored?
