    Celebrating Canadian Seafood at ICE NYC: A Look Back Throwback to before the new year, when Down East Seafood had the privilege of attending the Special Canadian Masterclass at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) NYC. This incredible event was led by Patrick McMurray (@shuckerpaddy), Guinness World Record holder for oyster shucking, and Michael-Ann Rowe (@michaelannrowe), an award-winning seafood advocate. Bringing together some of the finest oyster farmers and seafood experts, the class was a true celebration of Canada’s exceptional seafood. From pristine oysters to world-class shellfish and finfish, it reinforced just how vital these products are to chefs and their guests. This event has been on our minds recently as discussions of potential tariffs on Canadian seafood could impact access to these high-quality products. The relationships we’ve built with our Canadian partners are invaluable, and their seafood plays an essential role in kitchens across the industry.
