**Major Global Outage in Playstation Network: Widespread Impact across the World.** Playstation Network (PSN) has been down for over 14 hours, with the outage first declared by Downdetector at 23:00 UTC on February 7th. Over 1.9 million reports have been received in the first 12 hours, peaking at nearly 340,000 reports per hour. More than 30 games, including Call of Duty, Marvel Rivals, and Fortnite, have also received high levels of user reports. The outage appears to have been a platform issue affecting a broad range of PlayStation services, from login and account access to gameplay and cloud saves. Reports have come in from 57 countries. Downdetector Incident Attribution Analysis: Given the unusually high levels of reports received by PSN, the number of PSN games affected across many Game Publishers, and the fact that no major Cloud or Internet Infrastructure Provider was experiencing an outage at the same time, this appears to be an incident with an internal root cause at PlayStation Network. #playstation #psn #playstationoutage #downdetector #ookla

In our latest article, we took a closer look at last week's Meta outage with data from the USA, Canada, and Brazil. Spanning 5 hours, the disruption generated nearly 4 million global reports across Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram globally before Meta restored services. Earlier today, #Meta experienced a major outage in the United States, impacting #Facebook, #Instagram, and #WhatsApp, generating over 800k reports through Downdetector. The outage peaked between 10:00-10:15AM PST, with nearly 100k reports for Facebook alone during those 15 minutes. As of 2:25PM, Meta posted that over 99% of services have been restored.

Late last night, thousands of users reported issues with #Google services (Search, YouTube, and DNS) as well as #Discord. By analyzing Downdetector data, we identified a correlation: the affected users were primarily Comcast/Xfinity customers in the Pacific Northwest. Although the outage was resolved quickly, this incident highlights how Downdetector data can uncover connections between impacted services and pinpoint regional disruptions.

As 2024 winds down, we took a look back at the largest outages from Q1–Q3, both globally and by region. The #Facebook outage in March topped the list, generating over 11.1 million reports on Downdetector. This same outage also impacted #Instagram, which saw 3.3 million reports on the same day.
