Thank you to the YMCA pickleball mixer participants for bringing in donations to our Care Closet this past Saturday evening! We were running low on items and now we're back to being fully stocked. We go through almost an entire closet of items per week, as this is a huge need in our community. We are currently hiring for our new?Kitchen Coordinator position here at the Dow Bay Area YMCA. This role supports the mission of our organization, located in Downtown Bay City, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This full-time position (40 hours/week) is an hourly and non-exempt position, eligible for a Full-Time benefits package. As Kitchen Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with our Youth & Family Programs Director, providing general oversight for the daily operations of our food program. Some responsibilities include planning and teaching cooking classes to children and families, proactively recruiting program participants through outreach, and managing food orders and supplies while optimizing resources. Last night, we had 14 people volunteering their time to put together 300 Emergency Food Boxes for our community. Michigan Sugar has been a wonderful supporter of the program and also brought in enough brown/white sugar for every box! Special shout out to Paul, Ben and Carrie from the Y Board of Directors for being here, as well as special helper, Elsie, who supervised for the evening and made sure everything was done properly.
