On Saturday, March 22nd, Assistant District Attorney Courtney Williams-Speed, a member of our Juvenile Court team, participated in a panel discussion at the Stronger Together event held at the Woodie Fite Center. Joining her on the panel were other leaders and members from the Juvenile Court program here in Douglas County. The panel addressed questions about the juvenile court process, ways to support our youth, available services, and more. In an adjacent room, a youth job fair was conducted, providing juveniles the opportunity to speak with various companies about available job positions. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the discussion!

Today, District Attorney Dalia Racine addressed a group of citizens at the Woodie Fite Senior Center. She discussed elder abuse and the various forms it can take. The conversation also included different scams that target senior citizens and how to respond if they are contacted by scammers. Yesterday, members of our office spoke to classes at Douglas County High School, Lithia Springs High School, and the Anchor School. We would like to thank the teachers and staff at each of these schools for having us. During our visits, we shared information about our work, the various roles within our office, and our educational backgrounds. We enjoyed speaking with the students and answering their questions about the criminal justice system.

This morning, members of our office participated as guest readers at Chapel Hill Elementary School's Guest Reader Day in celebration of Read Across America. Lauren read "Penguin Problems," Inv. Cook read "The Smart Cookie," and Rebecca read "Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast: Mission Impossible" to their respective classes. Thank you Chapel Hill Elementary School for inviting us!

On Saturday, February 24th, our office participated in the Douglasville Police Department’s 5th Annual Day of Unity. Community leaders came together to discuss ways we can work towards unifying our community. Our Director of Communications, Lauren Burden, spoke on behalf of our office, highlighting our commitment to collaborating with partner agencies to create a safer community for everyone to enjoy.
