Double Haul Solutions (DHS) was launched in 2021 to support communities, organizations, and teams in their efforts to deliver results, address complex challenges, and achieve the successes sought. Through the Double Haul Network, DHS has the ability to customize project teams based on the specific and unique needs of each client. With access to community builders, human resources and labor relations specialists, policy experts, project managers, community engagement strategists, planning and community/economic development professionals, financial strategists, and more, the necessary skillsets are at arm’s reach. DHS focuses on collaborating with authentic leaders who embrace our vision, purpose, and values and who are willing to go the extra mile to foster long-term and genuine client relationships. The DHS Team consists of innovators with new service offerings on the horizon that will be built to support communities and talent development.   • The Michigan Municipal Executives (MME) conference was a powerful reminder of the dedication and resilience of municipal professionals. Municipal Managers pour their hearts into their communities—yet many often feel stressed, unseen, and unappreciated. The overwhelming response to our mental health discussions reinforced that connection, wellness, and professional support aren’t just beneficial—they’re essential. At Double Haul Solutions, we believe that investing in whole wellness is key to sustaining the work municipal professionals do every day. Our sessions, which included leadership coaching, relationship-building, and mental health resilience, focused on equipping leaders with tools to navigate the challenges of public service while maintaining their well-being. It was inspiring to see MME members prioritizing their own health and recognizing that strong leadership starts with self-care.     Mission Driven Leader and Founder/CEO of Double Haul Solutions

    Last night, I attended a council meeting for one of my clients, and it left me reflecting on the incredible dedication and resilience of those who work in public administration. It’s not easy being in the public eye, making tough decisions, and navigating the constant stream of scrutiny that comes with serving our communities. Theodore Roosevelt’s words capture this experience perfectly: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena.” Public administration is the definition of being “in the arena.” It’s showing up every day, knowing that you won’t please everyone, that mistakes will happen, and that the critics will always have something to say. But it’s also about striving for something bigger—working toward the progress and well-being of entire communities. To the critics, I’ll say this respectfully: constructive feedback is always welcome, but criticism without productive action doesn’t build stronger communities. True change comes from those willing to step into the arena, take risks, work together, and put in the hard work. To my fellow public administrators: I see you, and I admire you. You’re not just making decisions, you’re making a difference. Keep striving, keep leading, and know that your efforts are what drive progress —one meeting and one decision at a time. #publicservice #communitybuilding #maninthearena
