U.S. Maritime Administrator, Ann C. Phillips met with Vice Admiral Nicola Carlone, Commandant of the Italian Coast Guard (ITCG) to discuss seafarers’ certification and training programs, ITCG monitoring maritime traffic system Pelagus, search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea, European maritime single window environment (EMSWe) for a digital maritime administration, and ?ITCG functions to improve the blue economy and sustainability in the Italian harbors.

We're proud to celebrate the delivery of the second National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV), PATRIOT STATE, to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. On her first night in port, the PATRIOT STATE was greeted by the awe-inspiring northern lights, illuminating the sky in a dazzling display. A fitting welcome for a vessel that’s set to transform U.S. maritime training. With its cutting-edge technology, the PATRIOT STATE will empower cadets to gain hands-on experience and prepare to lead the future of the global maritime industry. U.S. Maritime Administrator Ann C. Phillips met with Mr. Do Muoi Le, Administrator of the Vietnam Maritime Administration (VINAMARINE) on Monday, August 12, 2024, in Hanoi City to exchange successful practices on maritime policy updates, port and infrastructure development, supply chain, maritime decarbonization, and maritime safety and security. The U.S. delegation included representatives from the Department of State and the U.S. Coast Guard. Administrator Phillips also met with the Vietnam Ministry of Transport, visited the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center in Hai Phong City and seaports in Ho Chi Minh City.

Maritime Administrator Phillips met with a delegation from the Republic of Korea on August 7th.?The head of the Korean delegation was Si-Won Lee, the Director-General of the Shipping and Logistics Bureau of the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.?The discussion included the topics of maritime shipping, economic security, supply chains, and other topics of mutual interest.

?? Yesterday, MARAD met with a distinguished delegation from the Japan International Transport and Tourism Institute (JITTI). Chairman Masafumi Shukuri and his team engaged in discussions on vital topics including maritime shipping, economic security, and supply chains.
