Thank you so much Health Affairs and Michael Gerber for highlighting our work at DotHouse Health! We appreciate your collaboration in helping spotlight our committed efforts in further closing health disparities in our communities. Thank you for advocating for our community health centers!
One of the best parts of reporting my recent Health Affairs article on paying for health equity was spending time at DotHouse Health in Boston and learning more about community health centers. I am embarrassed to admit that prior to spending time there, I had a vision in my head of how community health centers functioned—and it was completely wrong. I knew I would find dedicated providers, but didn't realize I'd find a team focused on quality measures, integrated care, and so much more that most of our health care "system" struggles to achieve. So I found it particularly interesting to learn more today from Leighton Ku, Michael Curry, Esq., Amanda Pears Kelly, and Paula Chatterjee listening to their conversation on advancing value based care in community health centers. I'll probably go back and watch it again once the recording is available on the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (Penn LDI) website and recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about how payment policies impact these centers that are so critical to efforts to create healthier communities.
