When we're testing out a new image generation model, we always ask for the same thing -- a cat riding a corndog in outer space. We love this prompt because it tests both the creativity and the accuracy of the model. As it turns out, a corndog isn't always an easy concept for AI image generators to grasp. We've gotten a lot of just plain hotdogs, and some wild creations with a crazy amount of sticks poked into them. A "good" image generation model should produce pictures that are visually appealing AND align with what the user was looking for, conceptually. Labelbox recently launched a leaderboard that aims to measure both of those aspects for the most widely used image and video generation models. They employed human evaluators to compare the results of the top models, and then calculated a score to rank their performance. You can check it out here to see how your preferred image or video generator ranked: https://buff.ly/3CuIfEZ In the meantime, here's the results of our own most recent "testing." #aiimages

The Wharton School recently surveyed senior decision makers at large (1000+ headcount) commercial enterprises about AI adoption. 36% of those who responded said their organization allows any employee to use generative AI without restrictions. What are they thinking? At a minimum, employees shouldn't be allowed to use AI if they haven't completed an approved AI literacy training program that explains the risks and limitations of AI tools. Do these findings match up with what you are seeing in smaller organizations? Are they freely allowing employees to use AI without restrictions? When it comes to learning AI, a little personalized guidance can go a long way! I recently started offering one-on-one coaching sessions at Do That Dave, and I've loved helping people tackle their AI challenges in real time. Recently, I met with a first-year law student who was feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of class notes and readings. They needed a way to organize and condense all that information into an effective study tool. In our session, we focused on creating a GPT so they could produce structured outlines that were easy to study from—and it worked! Here’s what they shared after our session: "I was struggling with how to make GPT effectively summarize and structure my notes into a study format I could use for exam prep. Tara pinpointed where my prompts could be improved and shared how new updates to GPT would soon make tackling this big task even easier. She walked me through setting up a custom GPT, and I’ve already seen great results from what I learned. Meeting with Tara has saved me so much time, and I’m excited to implement these strategies right from the start of my courses next term. Tara’s explanations were easy to follow, and her knowledge is both vast and practical. I’ll definitely book another session when I’m ready to further sharpen my GPT skills and improve my workflow even more. Highly recommend!" Seeing this kind of progress firsthand is why I love this work. Personalized coaching is incredibly effective for getting the most out of AI tools like GPT and finding real solutions that fit your workflow. If you’re interested in exploring coaching to help level up your skills with A—or just want to tackle a specific project—reach out! I’d love to chat and see how we can make AI work for you. https://lnkd.in/gwRPvvQm #ai #aicoaching #aitraining #aieducation #aiskills

What do you think makes an AI model "good?"

Reports suggest that OpenAI's new "Orion" model, currently in development, hasn’t shown the level of improvement over ChatGPT-4 that many expected. Have you ever wondered what it really means when someone claims that one large language model is "better" than another? In a lot of cases, these claims are anecdotal and subjective -- just one person's opinion about which LLM works best for them, in a particular situation. But there are also objective measurements that assess how well an LLM performs on specific tasks. Evaluation models like MMLU and HellaSwag can be used to provide a standardized score that can be compared against other LLM's. In this short guide, you'll learn: ?? What evaluation models are and how they are used. ?? What type evaluation models are used to assess LLM performance. ? How to interpret evaluation scores to gauge model reliability. Learning more about evaluation models can help you understand what makes one model "better" than another, from an objective perspective. Swipe through to learn more! #AI #TechTips #EvaluationModels #LLM #LLMevaluation

Still haven't tried AI? Know someone who hasn't? Our "Basic Training" course walks you through your first conversation with AI, step by step -- from creating an account to verifying the outputs. A lot of introductory AI courses take you way too deep into the technical side of AI; or, they show you how to do more advanced tasks, but skip the basics. Others are blindly optimistic about the potential of AI technology, and gloss over the limitations and risks. We created our Basic Training course for people who just want to try AI, but don't quite know where to start. We'll show you how to use popular, free AI tools, and how to do it safely. It's always free, for everyone. Come check it out, or tag someone you think would benefit!

Contrary to popular belief inside the LinkedIn "AI Bubble," there's still a lot of companies that aren't using AI. Survey data has been all over the map, which makes it pretty hard to get a precise read on adoption rates. Here's a recent analysis of U.S. Census data that shows there has been relatively little uptake -- according to the report, just 7.2% of firms with 250 or more employees have adopted AI, and 5.5% of firms with one to four employees. https://lnkd.in/gZFppqSs At the same time, there are also many industry-funded surveys which suggest well over half of workers are using AI at work. Where do you think the disparity in these figures is coming from? Is it just the survey methodologies? Clearly the population you are sampling from is going to make a difference, as will the phrasing of the survey questions. But is it possible that the gap in adoption rates between firms and individual employees is evidence of "shadow AI," or the "bring your own AI (BYOAI)" trend? The company might think they haven't yet adopted AI, but did they check with their employees before they checked the box on the census form? ??
