Last month, Louisiana DOTD Police’s command staff had the pleasure of attending the International Association of Chief’s of Police (IACP) Conference in Boston, MA. During this time, our staff learned invaluable tools and strategies to better our department. During their time in Boston, Executive Officer and Training Coordinator, Lt. Bergeron had the privilege of signing his name on a replica DUKW. In World War II, the US military used these amphibious vehicles to transport ammunition and supplies from their ships to land giving the US a tactical advantage that had never been seen before. On Wednesday, October 30, Sergeants Osborn and Barber represented the Louisiana DOTD Police at the University of Louisiana Monroe Career Fair! Our agents had the pleasure of meeting and engaging with talented students who may become the future of the Louisiana DOTD Police. During their time in Monroe, our Agents shared insights about their specialized role in law enforcement—focused on weighing and inspecting Commercial Motor Vehicles. As commissioned officers who complete a law enforcement academy and receive on-the-job training, DOTD Enforcement Agents play a vital role in maintaining roadway safety across Louisiana, including at scale locations like Delta, approximately 50 miles east of Monroe. On September 25th, DOTD Police Sergeants Bradley Osborn and Albert Johnson attended the Alcorn State University Job Fair to recruit the next generation of dedicated law enforcement professionals.
