Connecting the North West’s top Finance Leaders with career-defining opportunities for over a decade

When is job hopping just playing the game better than most? Met a Finance Director this week - massive group, big role, and he landed it before he was 30. How? By moving. Often. Once he’d delivered results and learned what he came to learn, he was gone. On to the next challenge. The next level. The next line on his CV that pushed him closer to the top. He says he was in the right place at the right time. But let’s be honest - it was calculated. He made sure he was in the right place WHEN the right time came around. Still think job hopping’s a red flag? For him, it was the smart play. Career progression isn’t about patience. It’s about purpose! I’d be interested in hearing other people’s experiences with this! Do you agree with this strategy?

"How’s the market?" UK Jobs Market Update | March 2025 The latest REC/KPMG jobs report is in and while some of the headlines are a bit gloomy, there are definite green shoots if you know where to look. Here’s what finance professionals in the North West need to know: ?? Permanent placements are still declining - but at the slowest rate in over two years. A slowdown can signal the start of a stabilisation. ?? Temporary hiring is holding strong, bouncing back to pre Budget trends. If you’re open to interim work, now is the time to explore those opportunities. ?? Vacancies continue to fall, but here’s the kicker: the private sector is holding up much better than the public sector. The businesses that are hiring are doing so strategically, meaning high calibre candidates still have strong opportunities. ?? More candidates in the market means more competition. Now’s the time to sharpen your CV, refine your interview approach, and make sure you stand out. ?? Lots of businesses are in ‘wait and see’ mode ahead of April’s tax and NI changes - but recruiters are seeing growing confidence behind the scenes. It’s a challenging market - but finance professionals who are proactive and adaptable are still landing great roles. Thinking about your next move? Let’s talk. ?? Like this post or DM us if you'd like to see the full report. ??

Connecting the North West’s top Finance Leaders with career-defining opportunities for over a decade

Senior finance leaders are being made redundant at a rapid pace, and it’s creating a leadership vacuum! It’s no secret that redundancies are rising across the UK, but there’s a shift we don’t often see. This time more CFOs and FDs are being let go as companies cut costs, restructure, and rethink their leadership teams. Yet these businesses will still need financial direction. They will still need leaders who can navigate uncertainty, drive efficiency, and fuel growth. This could be a career defining moment for the next generation of finance leaders. Businesses want those who can do more with less, embrace technology, and adapt quickly. Those with digital, AI, and transformation skills are in a strong position to step up. If you’re an ambitious finance professional, this could be your time! Have you noticed this trend? Do you see it as a smart shift toward change or short sighted cost cutting?
