We are excited to share one of our favorite projects, the Boston University Center for Computing and Data Sciences. With expansive glass facades and soaring atrium spaces, the lighting design for this iconic Boston University building balances ample daylight near the perimeter by lighting vertical surfaces deeper within the floor plate. Daylight harvesting continuously adapts the electric lighting to the exterior conditions maximizing the efficiency of the design to achieve a LEED Platinum certification. After sunset, the overhead lighting dims while the lit interior walls create a lantern-like glow.? This evening inversion of the lighting hierarchy creates a warm, welcoming environment for students to meet, socialize, and study.
The project was named one of the 10 projects shaping architecture in 2023 by Azure Magazine. Read the article and check out the other projects named with the link in our bio!
