What aspects of our current housing market are most troubling to you? As an architect, one of the biggest issues I see in the Salt Lake City #affordablehousing boom is the use of poorly built structures with bad material choices. The housing we're building now, with a few exceptions, will only last 20-30 years and then will need to be torn down & redeveloped or, at the very least, massive repairs. From an #SLCPlanningCommission perspective, I saw issues consistently with how buildings engage at street level. So many renderings that other architectural firms presented to the commission, and therefore, the public, are from what I call a "superhero view," meaning the design may look good from the air, but what will the building actually FEEL like to the pedestrian?
