Let's build tomorrow, TODAY.

关于我们

Designs Of Tomorrow (DOT) is a process-driven, design-centric architecture office. We begin every project opportunity with asking the right questions and then we listen. We listen to the client, the city, the people who will use and live near the space. This intuitive listening reveals the restraints and opportunities of the future work. Startingwithplace, culture and then the surrounding context of the natural environment, analyzing the site and its municipal restrictions, its views, its weather, its surrounding community, and context. We then develop a synchronized strategy for development of the project and its unique goals. We communicate through storytelling utilizing digital, analog, and computational design methodologies. is an iterative process. We embrace this process and integrate it into our approach. Working through multiple design possibilities, through rapid prototyping techniques, combining and removing elements and adding back new, we find the highest and best use of allowable space in a playful and innovative way, our intent is to always end the conceptual phase with the best possible solution.

Let's face it--great design is in the details. We lead by listening and promise to deliver design that is innovative, but more importantly, that captures your vision. . And then we follow through on that promise every step of the way, from design and conception to the finished project. . When using new materials, like these beautifully printed sound-absorbing foam panels at the aQui355, there is always a learning curve. But when you have partners like @alphadev, you find new solutions in the construction process, and you take those learnings and apply it to your details for future projects. . . Always learning, always pushing the boundaries of materials - that's what Designs of Tomorrow means to us.?

Our details are different. Let us show you how. We see the role of an architect on a project as multi-dimensional, of course. While we never control the means or methods that a General Contractor utilizes (unless we are also your GC, which we are licensed and insured for...), we believe our communication of critical, building defining connections and systems are pivotal in the overall success of your project. And we detail our drawings to help aid in that success in many ways. We'd love to share more with you if that sounds like a level of service you're willing to invest in.

What aspects of our current housing market are most troubling to you? As an architect, one of the biggest issues I see in the Salt Lake City #affordablehousing boom is the use of poorly built structures with bad material choices. The housing we're building now, with a few exceptions, will only last 20-30 years and then will need to be torn down & redeveloped or, at the very least, massive repairs. From an #SLCPlanningCommission perspective, I saw issues consistently with how buildings engage at street level. So many renderings that other architectural firms presented to the commission, and therefore, the public, are from what I call a "superhero view," meaning the design may look good from the air, but what will the building actually FEEL like to the pedestrian? (A street-view perspective from one of our recent designs is attached here for, you know, perspective). What areas for improvement are there within our architecture & development community in #SLChousingmarket ?

Prove me wrong... BRANDING is incredibly important to the built environment.? Your physical space around you tells a story. What story is your retail, office, or restaurant space telling about the brand that you are selling??

For too long, the building trades service providers battle one another to place blame and prioritize issues that could be solved by better communication. We love to get general contractors involved early and often. We’ve learned that our details are more likely to be built as-drawn if we’re communicating well as a team.

Digital facade design is revolutionizing how architects create modern fa?ades, allowing them to meld innovative digital techniques with traditional building structures. As designers, we have more creative freedom than ever before to explore boundary-pushing designs that we at DOT-Architecture believe elevate the aesthetic of a space.

Our designs create density. We understand the challenges and the benefits, and we know how to create density in a way that achieves multiple goals. We always start by listening to the project-adjacent community to understand their needs and wants. From there, we work with our real-estate developer clients to find creative solutions that balance the community's needs with the project's requirements. The density of a city can have a big impact on its livability. Higher density means more people living in close proximity, which can lead to more interaction and a greater sense of community. It can also mean more amenities and better public transportation, since there are more people to support them. Creating density is not always easy, however. It requires careful planning and a delicate balance of different factors. But when done right, it can make a big difference in the affordability AND livability of a city. If you're interested in learning more about density and how to create it, DOT-Arc can help. We are practiced in density planning and creating livable, sustainable spaces. Contact us today to learn more, or if you have a project that you would like us to take a look at to see if it can be more dense, we would love to hear from you.
