Preparing for an interview? ? Focus on preparing great questions, not just answers. Many candidates think they need to have all the right answers, but it’s often the questions you ask that make the strongest impression. I’ve seen candidates who focus so much on the answers that, during the interview, they end up passively waiting for questions. Instead, focus on the questions you bring to the table to create a more dynamic, engaging conversation. Here’s why asking thoughtful questions is essential: 1?? The Interview Becomes a Conversation: When you ask questions, the interview shifts from a one-sided Q&A to a more engaging dialogue. It’s no longer just about ticking off a checklist. I have seen interviewers shifting thier mindset from being in a structured interview to being in a constructive conversation with a colleague, which is a great sign! 2?? Show Your Level of Expertise: The level of your questions will implicitly demonstrate your understanding of the role and the challenges it may involve. By diving into specific aspects of the project or how the department risks or certain scenarios, you will show you’re already thinking at a high level. Your level of questions reflect your depth of knowledge. 3?? Demonstrate Interest & Curiosity: Not every question needs to be technical.
