At our most recent staff meeting, we had the remarkable privilege of welcoming William 'Bubba' Paris as a guest speaker. William Paris, a motivational speaker, on-air sports analyst, and author, is best known as a three-time Super Bowl champion with the San Francisco 49ers and an All-American at the University of Michigan. He recently joined the organ and tissue donation community as the Executive Director of the Donor Network West Foundation based in San Ramon, California. ? During his visit, Mr. Paris delivered a passionate speech, sharing his experiences with transplant recipients and donor families and inspiring our staff to discover their purpose and potential. Today, Donor Network West had the privilege of coming together with our Bay Area community in San Francisco at the Presidio Chapel. Alongside incredible faith leaders, we held an open panel discussion focused on educating our communities about the relationship between donation and faith, dispelling myths and raising awareness. The National Donor Sabbath is in two days! For over 30 years, Chief Warrant Officer Five, Julian Evans, served the nation honorably. Julian was known and respected by his colleagues as a selfless leader who always placed the needs of his family, soldiers, leadership, and fellow Warrant Officers before himself. Julian dedicated his life to serving his country and his family. Even after his passing, he served others by donating his corneas so two people could receive the gift of restored eyesight. On October 30th, Donor Network West had the privilege of joining Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and the incredible community of San Jose to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos and honor the lives of donors, donor families, and the incredible professionals and medical heroes who make the #GiftOfLife possible. ?????? Sharon Castellanos, a nurse practitioner at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and donor mother; Jess Chairez, donor father; and Elieen Spallino, Director of Donation Development, beautifully spoke about the importance of informing your family of your decision and the lives that can be saved when you join the registry. ??
