For over 30 years, Chief Warrant Officer Five, Julian Evans, served the nation honorably. Julian was known and respected by his colleagues as a selfless leader who always placed the needs of his family, soldiers, leadership, and fellow Warrant Officers before himself. Julian dedicated his life to serving his country and his family. Even after his passing, he served others by donating his corneas so two people could receive the gift of restored eyesight. Josie, his wife and U.S. Army Veteran, shares their journey and decision to donate ???? Thank you to the Eye Bank Association of America for this story! #VeteransDay #DonateLife Register your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor at RegisterMe.org or in your iPhone Health App.

November is National Caregivers Month. Caregivers are an important part of the #DonateLife journey. They are there for tasks big and small – listening, making food, driving to medical follow-ups – and championing and supporting you when you need it most. Send a thank you to all of the caregivers in your life! ????

November is Native American Heritage Month. In alignment with this year's theme of Tribal sovereignty, we acknowledge the importance of empowering Native communities to make informed choices about organ, eye, and tissue donation. Just as Tribal sovereignty preserves the right of self-governance, the act of donation ensures the continuation of traditions of generosity and care, values that are deeply rooted in Native cultures. We aim to honor these traditions through partnership and consultation while ensuring equitable access to lifesaving healthcare. This month, we highlight the contributions of Native American donors and donor families whose selfless gifts have saved countless lives. We also raise awareness about the pressing need for organ, eye and tissue donors within Native American communities. Native Americans and Alaska Natives currently make up approximately 2% of the U.S. population, with over 900 American Indians/Alaska Natives on the national organ transplant waiting list—representing about 1% of the total list. "I am infinitely grateful to the donor and donor family that have made my breast reconstruction possible. They have given me a gift so valuable and important to them, which is something so beautiful, especially since they do not even know who I am! My heart is overjoyed, and words are not enough to describe my gratitude towards this family.” In 2018, Elsa underwent breast reconstruction post-mastectomy thanks to the generosity of a tissue donor. Did you know that tissue donation is an important part of post-mastectomy breast reconstruction? One skin donor's tissues can help more than 5 people undergoing breast reconstruction surgery! In honor of Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day, support breast cancer survivors by registering your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor at RegisterMe.org or in your iPhone Health App. ?????? #DonateLife #BRADay MTF Biologics

At just 3 days old, Mila was diagnosed with Peters’ Anomaly, a rare congenital eye condition. Her parents, Megan and Luke, were told Mila would likely never see anything more than shadows in her right eye and that her left eye had no hope of gaining sight. Just shy of a month old, Mila was seen by a specialist who offered her a more hopeful prognosis. At 4 months old, Mila received a successful cornea transplant in her left eye. She now has vision in that eye with the help of corrective glasses. “We thought Mila would never see our faces. Now, she smiles at us and laughs at our funny faces! It was absolutely amazing to see her vision improve following her cornea transplant—it gave our family so much hope!” ???? #WorldSightDay #DonateLife Thank you to AltruVision for this story!
