The newest addition to the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) standards portfolio allows for plug-and-play of card-based capabilities to meet requirements of different mission types and emerging threats. The C5ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) Interoperability Requirements Specification (IRS) Version 1.1 adoption notice is now available in ASSIST, the official source of defense standards and specs, at https://assist.dla.mil. Within OUSD(R&E) Systems Engineering and Architecture, the Systems Engineering Directorate and the Defense Standardization Program Office (DSPO) are working together to support standards development. Standardization is a key driver for enhancing competition, incorporating innovation, supporting interoperability, and enabling rapid insertion of technology in DoD acquisitions.? USS Cheyenne (SSN 773) is back in the water! The attack boat's undocking from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard's Dry Dock 1 was a significant milestone in its service-life extension, and all the more impressive considering that it was able to dock and undock while PNSY renovates and improves capacity as part of the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP). Kudos to the men and women of PSNY and the crew of Cheyenne for un-docking on time with shipyard optimization work still ongoing. Sailors will soon be able to "Ride the Legend" overseas and take the fight to the enemy once again!

Major Contract Awards Advance Mine Countermeasures for LCS ?? The US Navy has awarded a series of major contracts under PEO Unmanned and Small Combatants (PEO USC) to enhance Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Mine Countermeasures (MCM) capabilities, ensuring our #unmanned MCM systems continue to evolve and keep Sailors safe while securing key maritime regions. “These contracts are pivotal to ensure that the Navy’s LCS are equipped with the most advanced and reliable Mine Countermeasures capabilities. As we continue to face evolving threats in the littoral environment, these investments not only enhance our operational readiness but also demonstrate our commitment to safeguarding our Sailors and maintaining a competitive edge. By modernizing and expanding our MCM mission packages, we are providing our forces with the tools necessary to maintain access to key maritime regions and keep global shipping lanes safe.” – RDML Kevin Smith By investing in advanced unmanned systems, the Navy is enhancing fleet readiness, securing vital maritime regions, and safeguarding global shipping lanes. ???
