While the environmental impact gains attention, it's clear that economics also play a key role in Amazon's decisions. The lower operating and maintenance costs, coupled with federal and regional incentives that offset capital costs, make this a real win-win-win for Amazon, their shareholders, and society.

Imagine the struggle of balancing a $1,200 monthly rent payment alongside a hefty $1,700 electricity bill in California. With electricity prices nearly doubling in the past decade, the state now rivals Hawaii in costs. The consumer advocate's office deems this trajectory "untenable," a sentiment that's hard to dispute. Compounding the issue is the fact that California overproduces renewable energy, leading to a staggering waste of 2.4 million megawatt-hours in 2022, with 95% coming from solar sources. This excess, accounting for 5% of the state's total solar generation, presents a significant challenge.
