Domaine Carneros is a singular winery best known as a small grower-producer of methóde champenoise sparkling wine, Pinot Noir, estate vineyards, and a breathtakingly beautiful chateau. Founded by the noble family behind Champagne Taittinger, Claude Taittinger's search for a worthy U.S. counterpart began in the late 1970s. In 1987 he selected a 138-acre parcel in the heart of Carneros, Napa Valley. Wisely selecting Eileen Crane to oversee the development of the winery and vineyards, the team created the quintessential California expression of the Taittinger style in Carneros. The heart of Domaine Carneros has always been sparkling wines, with distinctive styles ranging from the classic vintage-dated Brut cuvée to our luxury Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs. In 1992 we added rich, complex Pinot Noir to our portfolio and our passion for sparkling and still wines continues to grow. From her vineyard roots to CEO of Domaine Carneros, Remi Cohen has paved an inspiring path in the wine world. With a background in molecular biology, she found her true calling in viticulture, blending science with the art of winemaking. She succeeded longtime CEO Eileen Crane in 2020 and was immediately thrust into leadership in the most challenging of conditions. From her first days she has championed our longtime sustainability efforts including the completion the winery’s new solar microgrid, powering 70-80% of operations. ?? Eileen’s love of fine wine began at just 8 years old when her father shared a sip of Sauternes with her. That passion led her to UC Davis to study winemaking and, in the 1980s—when female winemakers were rare—she worked her way from the tasting room to becoming one of the nation’s most respected sparkling winemakers. In 1987, the Taittinger family selected Eileen to build Domaine Carneros from the ground up—both the winery and a world-class wine program, worthy of the dream the Taittingers had of producing the finest American sparkling wine. She took on the challenge with vision and determination, crafting our signature style of méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine and ensuring the Carneros region was recognized for producing world-class Blanc de Blancs.
