“Inspiring and organizing communities to build volunteer organizations empowered to pursue social justice.”

关于我们

The Dolores Huerta Foundation is a 501 (c)3 organization on a mission to inspire and organize communities to build volunteer organizations empowered to pursue social justice. DHF organizes at the grassroots level developing natural leaders with hands-on training through collective action working to establish Vecinos Unidos (Neighbors United) chapters in some of the most disenfranchised regions of California. In it’s 15 years DHF has formed chapters in Lost Hills and Cutler-Orosi, with currently active Vecinos Unidos groups in Arvin, Lamont, Weedpatch, Greenfield, and Bakersfield (Kern County) Tulare, Lindsay, and Woodlake (Tulare County) and Caruthers, Sanger and Parlier (Fresno County). Our social justice grassroots organizing work is focused on Education, Health and Safety, LGBTQIA+, Equality and Civic Engagement. DHF is committed to dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline through student and parent training for meaningful engagement and advocacy. DHF works to create healthy, accepting supportive environments for LGBTQIA+ youth and family members by building support networks and safer school climates. Through our integrative voter and Census outreach and education, DHF has been instrumental in passing progressive local and statewide legislation to increase funding for public services.

?? ACT NOW: Demand Your Representative Vote NO on H.R. 9495! ?? House Republicans are attempting to pass H.R. 9495, a dangerous bill that would give Trump and future presidents unchecked power to shut down nonprofits by labeling them “terrorist-supporting organizations.” This includes humanitarian aid groups, news outlets, schools, and organizations like ours that are committed to advocating for social justice and equity. This is not just a policy issue. This bill is a direct attack on free speech, dissent, and democracy itself, allowing presidents to silence critics, target political opponents, and dismantle efforts to uplift vulnerable communities, under the pretense of national security. Congress narrowly failed to fast-track this bill last week, but it’s back and could pass with a simple majority this week. ?? Here’s what you can do RIGHT NOW: 1?? Go to congress.gov/members to find your representative’s contact information. 2?? Call or email them TODAY or TOMORROW and tell them: “Vote NO on H.R. 9495. This bill is a direct attack on nonprofits, free speech, and civil society.” Your voice can make the difference. Together, we must protect the essential freedoms that allow our communities to thrive and fight for a just and equitable future. Don’t wait—act now to ensure your representative hears from YOU. #VoteNoOnHR9495 #ProtectNonprofits #FreeSpeech #DoloresHuertaFoundation #SíSePuede

Today, we share in the deep frustration and fear felt across our communities. The outcome of the 2024 Presidential election underscores the importance of community organizing and education. As our founder, Dolores Huerta, reminds us, “A time of crisis inspires all to come together and organize.” In this moment, we renew and strengthen our commitment to organize and fight for the dignity, rights, and safety of immigrants, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and for climate justice to protect Mother Earth. At the Dolores Huerta Foundation, we are grounded in the powerful legacy of the movements that came before us—those who paved the way and whose lessons continue to inspire our work. We have survived many hostile administrations, and because of them, we are stronger, better prepared, and better organized to fight back. Our multigenerational organizing work ensures that we work for powerful outcomes that reflect the dreams of our Vecinos Unidos (Neighbors United), youth, and allies. In the coming days, weeks, and months, we must and will increase our strategic partnerships across the region, state, and nation to build a stronger infrastructure in this fight for justice. We stand resolute in our mission and will hold this administration accountable. Together, we can and will forge a path toward the future we all deserve. ?Sí Se Puede! In solidarity, The Dolores Huerta Foundation

??? The Dolores Huerta Foundation urges you to Vote YES on Prop 3! ??? This November 5, let’s create a brighter future for all Californians! California Proposition 3, also known as the Freedom to Marry ballot measure, is a crucial initiative to protect California’s values of freedom and equality. Currently, the California Constitution contains discriminatory language that defines marriage as only between a man and a woman. Proposition 3 seeks to remove this outdated language and replace it with a provision that establishes the right to marry as a fundamental right. Proposition 3 will ensure that protections for same-sex and interracial couples are enshrined in our constitution. #YesOn3 #Vote2024 #CaliforniaBallot #SíSePuede
