For both pet parents and veterinarians, it's crucial to be aware of the top surgical emergencies that may arise during this festive time. Here are five key concerns to keep in mind: Intestinal Obstruction: Monitor toys and treats that could be swallowed. Fractures: Snow, ice, slippery floors can be a recipe for accidents to happen. Be cautious of slippery floors and crowded spaces that could lead to injuries. Trauma: Holiday gatherings can be incredibly stimulating for pets and humans. Ensure they have a safe space away from loud noises and bustling activity. Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (GDV): This life-threatening condition can develop quickly, especially in larger breeds.
