The Dog Aging Project is recruiting dogs to participate in the largest canine health study ever conducted. This is an opportunity to be part of a research project that can dramatically extend what we know about health and aging in our dogs. Join at https://lnkd.in/gfazE_3
关于我们
The Dog Aging Project is an innovative initiative that brings together a community of dogs, owners, veterinarians, researchers, and volunteers to carry out the most ambitious canine science project in the world. Our work is centered on two fundamental goals: understanding how genes, lifestyle, and environment influence aging and intervening to increase healthspan, the period of life spent free from disease. Dogs truly are science’s best friends. Though they age more rapidly than humans, they get the same diseases of aging, have a rich genetic make-up, and share our environment. By studying aging in dogs, we can more quickly expand our knowledge of the aging process not just in dogs but also in humans. The Dog Aging Project will follow tens of thousands of companion dogs for ten years in order to identify the biological and environmental factors that maximize health and longevity.

Our lifestyle choices can have notable impacts on our dogs' health and longevity. According to insights from The Dog Aging Project, factors like neighborhood stability, household income, social interaction, and even an owner's age can influence the well-being of a furry friend. Here’s what stands out: ?? Stable households and older owners lead to healthier, more active dogs. ?? Access to green spaces and social time with other animals can improve well-being. ?? Dogs in higher-income households often have better access to veterinary care, though this may also result in a higher rate of disease diagnoses. While we can’t control every factor, we can control nutrition, which will remain a key tool for improving overall health, wellness, and longevity. Learn more about how lifestyle factors impact pet well-being from Dr. Stephanie Clark, PhD, CVT, PAS, CFS, Dpl. ACAS-N, VTS (Nutrition). ?? #PetCare #DogHealth #PetLongevity #CanineCare #NothingIsImpossible #BSMPartners
