This past weekend, members of our team walked in the Walk to Defeat ALS on Brown’s Island in memory of Papa Doe and all those who have been affected by the disease. It was a beautiful morning to come together with members of our community and shine a light on a critical issue that is close to our hearts at Dodson. Thanks to all those who joined us in spirit by donating to our team fundraising page! If you haven’t yet had a chance to donate, it’s not too late! The relentless betterment of people, property, and community. That’s our purpose at Dodson Companies. That’s what we set out to do on a daily basis and through all of our business decisions, both large and small. We invest in neighborhoods and communities not just by developing real estate, but also with community involvement, volunteering, and charitable donations within the communities and neighborhoods that we are working to revitalize and transform. Recently, members of our team spent a morning with an organization doing important work in our community - Capital Trees . Our group helped other volunteers to pull weeds at The Low Line along the James River. We appreciate all the hard work Capital Trees puts in to provide well-maintained, sustainable green spaces that are accessible and beautiful. Their work helps to instill a sense of place and improve quality of life within our community. We had a great time helping out; thank you for having us! #rva #richmondva #community

When we started on our Colonial Beach journey 3.5 years ago, one of the first projects we started planning was our coworking space, CoBe Workspaces, in the historic bank building on Hawthorn Street. This property is one of the most iconic buildings in town, with tons of history going back 100+ years. We wanted badly to bring this structure back to life and use it as a point of inspiration for locals, visitors and future developers in CB. With our experience with Gather, we knew first hand how a coworking space/event space can serve as a focal point for a block/neighborhood/community and be a linchpin for neighborhood revitalization. This space has coworkers by day and turns into event space at night and on the weekend. We've hosted non-profit meetings, baby showers and we have a 12 person conference room in the back that we and others use for Strategic Planning. If you do off-site strategic plannings for your team, consider heading to CB. Use our conference room, get lunch catered by Circa 1892 next door, stay in our Airbnb's upstairs, and head to Muse or Drift for dinner across the street. Rent a golf cart while you are here and see the Town! See pics at the link below. Campfire did our design and they really outdid themselves! https://lnkd.in/eCzuhCwW #CoBe #Coworking #Revitalization Campfire & Co. CoBe Workspaces

Why are you doing it that way, Duke? You could just develop the real estate and move on to the next project. Why fund and operate all these small businesses? Well, sure, we could. But we want to do the best thing for the communities which means bringing the?right?business to the area right?now?instead of leaving it to fate. We want folks to see what we see in these neighborhoods - investment, inspiration and hope instead of blight and uncertainty. By involving partners within the community to help us identify potential business concepts, and create jobs, we’re shortening the time a storefront sits vacant and ultimately expediting the neighborhood transformation. So, when we talk about Dodson Companies, we’re talking about our family of companies.?These companies may seem very different, but what they have in common is partners/leaders that share our core values, an emphasis on process, and a maniacal focus on the customer experience.?There are quite a few of them now...more on those to come.
