Story Strategist | Showing leaders how to persuade with power through the art of strategic storytelling | Workshops for CEOs, VPs, and sales professionals
When Tami M. Cole looked into her daughter’s eyes, she made a decision that would change everything: The cycle stops with me. Growing up in a dysfunctional home, Tami knew struggle intimately. As a teen mom, she faced relentless adversity, navigating life with limited resources and overwhelming uncertainty. But she refused to let her daughter experience the pain she had endured. One defining moment came when her daughter was four and a half. Tami caught herself raising her voice in frustration, and suddenly, she saw a reflection of her own childhood. In that instant, she stopped, embraced her daughter, and silently vowed: I will be better. That moment of self-awareness fueled her relentless pursuit of growth. She fought through self-doubt, pushed past imposter syndrome, and climbed the ranks in IT consulting, eventually taking the bold leap to purchase docstrats. She learned to “parent herself.” When faced with tough choices, she asked: What advice would I give my child? That perspective gave her the clarity to push forward. She embraced vulnerability. Instead of hiding behind fear, she acknowledged it and then kept moving. She built a company that values people.? Tami’s journey is proof that your?starting point does not determine your destination. ?? Wanna hear more? Check out the full episode at StoriesWithTraction (dot) com

President & CEO, Documentation Strategies, Inc. ('docstrats') President & CEO, Higher Strategies ('HigherStrats')
A Decade of Commitment 1 Decade. 10 Years. 3,650 Days. Where does the time go? Today marks 10 years since I became the Owner and President of Documentation Strategies, Inc. ("docstrats"). As I reflect on this journey, I’m reminded of the emotions that filled my first day—fear, insecurity, self-doubt, nervousness, excitement, anticipation, curiosity, wonder, and, most importantly, commitment. Leaving the corporate world as a software development practitioner (developer, business analyst, project manager) to step into business ownership was terrifying. It took me a long time to make the leap, but once I did, I committed fully—and I’ve never looked back. Commitment. Such a simple word, yet so powerful. My commitment was rooted in my "why"—the deeper reason behind my decision. While the fear of leaving a stable corporate job was real, my determination to move forward, once committed, never wavered. A decade later, commitment continues to guide me. Though my "why" has evolved, my drive to grow, improve, and create meaningful impact remains unchanged. One of my favorite poems beautifully captures this sentiment (full version attached): "Committed" – W.H. Murray, The Scottish Himalayan Expedition, 1951 "Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness... Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it." Ten years ago, I couldn’t have imagined what my life would look like today. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has been extraordinary. As Eleanor Roosevelt wisely said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." To everyone who has supported me—partners, vendors, employees, my community, and my EO family—thank you. The relationships I’ve built are invaluable, and I look forward to many more years of learning, growth, and giving back. Cheers to the adventures ahead! ?? ?? ?? docstrats, HigherStrats, Entrepreneurs' Organization Albany
