Docomomo is an acronym for the DOcumentation and COnservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the MOdern MOvement. Docomomo promotes the study, interpretation and protection of the architecture, landscape and urban design of the Modern Movement. It promotes the exchange of knowledge about this important legacy which extends from the planned city and the iconic monument to the house next door. Docomomo is an international organization and Docomomo US is the working party of Docomomo in the United States. It is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization, a union of regional chapters that share its membersa?? knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Modern Movement, promote public interest in it through lectures and walking tours, and organize advocacy efforts to protect endangered sites and buildings. Committed to the principle that modern design merits the attention and preservation received by earlier periods, we maintain a continuous and constructive dialogue with national, state, and local preservation authorities and organizations as well as with building owners, developers, and designers in many disciplines. Our discussions with designing architects are based on the conviction that creative design and preservation go hand in hand. Designers are often consolidating, rehabilitating, and adding to the old; preservation architects are often devising creative ways to conserve it.

This article from The New York Times does a great job of explaining the complicated story why Frank Lloyd Wright's only skyscraper, the Price Tower, is headed to auction, and how some of its interior furnishings are being sold off, despite a preservation easement being held on the property. “They’re trafficked goods,” said Docomomo US Executive Director Liz Waytkus. “The same that you would say of pottery or vases from Egypt or Mesopotamia that were obtained through illegal ways, these pieces from Frank Lloyd Wright should be thought of in the same exact way.” https://lnkd.in/eMPzYyyn

The National Trust for Historic Preservation African American Heritage Action Fund in partnership with the Getty Foundation has awarded $3.1 million to a second round of grants for Conserving Black Modernism. Designed to protect and promote the work of African American architects and designers, the program identifies Modernist historic sites and enables planning, professional training, and storytelling to sustain these places and celebrate the work of these architects, long term. Included in this year's list of awardees is Azurest South, Amaza Lee Meredith's Home and Studio at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia. Located on campus, the home is a colorful example of the International Style. Funding supports the implementation of a conservation management plan for the building.
