March 25 is Diabetes Alert Day – A Wake-Up Call for Health Equity! Diabetes affects 38.4 million Americans—but here’s the alarming truth: 8.7 million people don’t even know they have it. And with more than 1 in 3 adults living with prediabetes, awareness is key to prevention. ?? As healthcare leaders, it’s our responsibility to close this gap. This means: ?? Increasing access to screenings ?? Promoting culturally responsive education ?? Encouraging early intervention Take the Diabetes Risk Test today and start the conversation—because prevention starts with awareness: https://lnkd.in/dMwje9R #DNPsofColor #DiabetesAlertDay #HealthcareEquity

?? DNPs of Color Conference: A Celebration of Diversity, Excellence, and Impact in Nursing ?? ?? What can you expect from this incredible event? ?? Fun, Networking, Diversity, and Love. This is more than just a conference; it’s a movement. A room filled with Black Excellence, where we connect, empower, and elevate each other to new heights. ????? At this year’s event, we’re shining a spotlight on an often-overlooked but crucial mission: promoting men of color in nursing. The numbers are stark—there are too few men of color with terminal nursing degrees, and many feel unmotivated or unworthy. But we’re changing that narrative. Here’s how: ?? Mentoring programs to guide and support students and professionals. ?? Inspiring young men to see the immense value and respect that comes with a career in nursing. ?? Encouraging conversations that validate and uplift. As one of our attendees, Dwayne Alleyne DNP, APRN, ACNP-C said, "My value is shown when people respect me and realize I have something to offer." This conference is a platform to create a legacy of inclusion, leadership, and impact. Together, we’re paving the way for the next generation of diverse nursing leaders. ???? Join us in this transformative journey. Let’s build a future where everyone feels motivated, empowered, and valued. #DNPsofColor #NursingLeadership #DiversityInNursing #MentorshipMatters #BlackExcellence #MenInNursing #Inspiration

Empowered. Inspired. Ready to Act! Tonight’s online State of the World and DOCs (DNPs of Color) Community Forum was nothing short of electric! The energy in the room was charged with passion, advocacy, and a collective commitment to rest and resistance as we continue the fight for community, workforce diversity, education, and better health outcomes. We came together not just to discuss the challenges but to strategize solutions, uplift one another, and reaffirm our responsibility to push forward. The work is far from over, but when we stand together, the impact is undeniable. Proud to be in this space with such brilliant nurses. Let’s keep the momentum going! Thank you DNPs of Color and Danielle K. for leading the charge. #DNPsofColor #Advocacy #RestAndResistance #DEI #HealthEquity #WorkforceDiversity #healthcare #nurses #dnps (??: Group photo of some of the DNP leaders from tonight’s powerful discussion!) “We need to ask ourselves, ‘Am I in alignment with the organization, with the institution, with the culture that I’m working in?’” – Dr. Uché Blackstock At the 2024 DNPs of Color Conference, Dr. Blackstock shared her journey as the first Black mother-daughter legacy at Harvard Medical School, her experiences navigating racism in medicine, and her vision for a more just healthcare system. Her insights challenge us to reflect on our own legacy and the work still needed to dismantle systemic barriers in healthcare.
