Design-thinking, Board-certified CCM, RN + MBA informaticist at the intersection of Clinical, Business, Product Mgmt & Tech. Futurist in Nurse-led innovation, Health Equity & Clinical Transformation.
Meeting long-time Twitter friend Robin was one of my highlights of the #DNPsOfColor conference. For those who don't know or can't remember -- Twitter used to be a platform where you would find and engage with others based on your interests and likes. #NurseTwitter had it going on for a couple of years - a long stretch of time, honestly, but even before that, it was a place where you could reach out to someone and share real conversations. Robin is unapologetic in her approach to health equity, midwifery, positive birth moments, and street medicine. Her on-the-ground approach to the Hawaiian communities is remarkable. Talking about walking the talk, Robin is a real one - and I'm so glad I got a chance to meet her on the mainland. Next time, lunch on me in Maui ??.

Do you know what #PICO stands for?? Population (or Patient or Problem) ?? What are the characteristics of the patient or population (demographics, risk factors, pre-existing conditions, etc)? What is the condition or disease of interest? Intervention ?? What is the intervention under consideration for this patient or population? Comparison ?? What is the alternative to the intervention (e.g. placebo, different drug, surgery)? Outcome ?? What are the included outcomes (e.g. quality of life, change in clinical status, morbidity, adverse effects, complications)? ?? These components give you the specific who, what, when, where and how, of an evidence-based healthcare research question. In the #CochraneLibrary you can use PICO in several ways: ?? You can view the PICO terms for each review below the abstract. ?? You can browse Cochrane content using themed groups of included PICOs ?? You can search by PICO to find reviews most relevant to your PICO questions. ??
