A recent survey of ad professionals said less than .1% of all agency employees identify as LGBTQ2S+. That's BS and an industry-wide wake up call to create a workplace where everyone can show up fully. That's why we brought porject violet to life, - the first mentorship program connecting young LGBTQ2S+ talent with industry leaders who have been there, who get it and who can help. DIVERSITY. EQUITY. INCLUSION. Today, on the same day when we celebrate the great Martin Luther King Jr., we also usher in a new President, and the tone around DEI is very, very different. Major companies have bowed to the pressure to “un-woke” themselves and severely curtail or even cut DEI programs altogether. Not DNA. Over the past 4 years, we’ve doubled-down on our actions. And while across the agency, we are 44% diverse (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation) with 50% female representation, we’ve taken our commitment to diversity to a whole new level - building our teams around cognitive diversity. Our diversity is expressed not only in the color of our skin, our gender, who we love, our heritage - but also the experiences we’ve had in life that lead us to where we are today. When we merged DNA with Little Hands of Stone to create DNA&STONE, a DRIVING force of our decision to merge was putting all of our differences to work. Not only in who we are, but in how we think and work. From the Midwest, the Northwest, Singapore, with Ukrainian, Irish, Black roots. Gay, straight. Neurodivergent. Dirt poor with parents who were high school dropouts to upper-middle class, scientist and educator parents, to parents who were divorced or died too early. Our differences - all of them -? make us stronger. So today, DNA&STONE is an LGBTQ+ owned agency. We are a Black-owned agency. We are a straight white guy-owned agency. And I’m sure that in the future, we will be owned by others who bring other, wildly different experiences to the table. That won’t change. And we’re proud.
