Grateful to have participated in DMV Does Good's Day of Service as Executive VP with my co-worker from ARLIS and fellow Board Member, Brianna Gist We served over 150 of our fellow citizens in need by providing over 3,200 items for the summer season (toiletries, clothing, portable fans with universal chargers, hot food, water and sanitizers). We Partnered with April Showers (who provided a mobile shower facility for those in need) and United Family Mission who made this day even more special. Together, our grassroots efforts are making a difference in our community. I would like to thank everyone who donated to our cause. Today, DMV Does Good, Inc. and Apryl Showers distributed more than 3,263 items to more than 75 people experiencing housing and food insecurity at our Summer Day of Service. We couldn’t have asked for a better community outreach partner. In addition to providing hot showers in a climate controlled trailer, we provided: 144 bottles of hand sanitizer, 340 tubes of toothpaste, 144 toothbrushes, 200 pairs of socks, 100 washcloths, 250 bottles of conditioner, 144 deodorants, 250 bottles of shampoo, 250 bottles of lotion, 102 shaving kits with razors and shaving cream, 192 bottles of mouthwash, 200 packs of pocket tissue, 250 bottles of body wash, 338 bars of soap, 121 bottles of water, 144 slices of pizza, 126 bags of chips, 60 portable fans, 8 pairs of shoes, 4 bins of men’s and women’s clothing and 2 clothing racks of men’s & women’s clothing. THIS YEAR, WE ARE PARTNERING WITH SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING OUR NEWEST PARTNER, APRYL SHOWERS. Apryl Showers PROVIDES HYGIENE SERVICES TO LESS FORTUNATE CITIZENS IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION. BY OFFERING A MOBILE SHOWER AND RESTROOM TRAILER COMBO UNIT, HOUSED IN A SAFE, CLEAN ENVIRONMENT, THEY ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCES TO THOSE IN NEED.
