As the push to reshore manufacturing gains momentum, a critical factor often overlooked is workforce development. ?? Without strategic investment in building a skilled workforce, the vision of bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. risks being stunted by a skills gap that hinders efficiency, productivity, and growth. Investing in training programs and development efforts isn’t just beneficial for workers – it’s vital for companies looking to thrive in a competitive global market. The landscape has changed significantly, with modern manufacturing demanding a blend of technical knowledge, adaptability, and digital skills. ?? Yet, we're seeing a concerning lag in the investment needed to equip today’s workforce with these competencies. This lack of focus on workforce readiness could slow down the reshoring movement, making it harder for manufacturers to find talent and pushing costs higher. Skilled labor isn’t just an asset; it's a necessity for operational success, especially when leveraging new technologies like automation and AI. ?? Learn IP networking or get left behind. With the rise of ST 2110, NDI, distributed production, and the cloud, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, needs to be able to configure and troubleshoot IP connected gear. This may sound scary. There are a lot more points of failure with IP than with baseband, and they can be a lot less obvious. If you're used to just plugging in cables and having connectivity, you're in for a rude awakening. So how can you learn? You can watch YouTube tutorials. You can read documentation. But those things didn't stick as well for me. I learn by doing. So a couple years ago, I set up a Homelab on an old PC. I spun up a bunch of Docker containers. And I networked them: to each other, to other local devices, through firewalls, to cloud services, through VPNs and secure tunnels. I set up graphs and dashboards to monitor performance. I set up push notifications on my phone for when the network was slow, or when a service wasn't responding. I made a lot of mistakes. Broke a lot of configs. But every time I did, I learned. Now, it's a world I feel a lot more comfortable working in, and as a bonus, I have some really nifty functionality on my home network. What made IP networking really click for you? Share below!

In the evolving landscape of sales, choosing the right methodology can transform your business outcomes. Should you adopt the Sandler approach, with its focus on questioning and qualifying leads, or perhaps the Challenger Sales methodology, which advocates for teaching, tailoring, and taking control? Understanding the strengths and applications of each can empower your sales team to achieve unparalleled success.

I love this. Discuss the client, not yourself. Make it personal. Nobody likes being cornered, give them an invitation to exit the conversation. Sounds counterintuitive, right? Here's the thing though - would you rather have a pipeline stacked with ghosts, or leads that are actively engaging? The example below really is the perfect cold email. What's your lead-gen strategy?

I help tech sales AEs perform to their full potential in sales and life with coaching, courses, and community | Sales Coach | Former #1 Enterprise AE at Salesforce | $100M+ in career sales

Last quarter I received a perfect cold email. It followed the same simple prospecting framework I teach. Here's a line-by-line breakdown of why it works so well: SUBJECT LINE: Make it all about them and reference your research Why it works: Shows that it's not spam or automated, and creates curiosity to open the e-mail and here what they have to say PARAGRAPH #1: Warm, personal, with a sincere compliment Why it works: Shows the prospect you took the time to learn about them, and humanizes you. PARAGRAPH #2: Share relevant observations based on research and a potential problem which their research uncovered Why it works: Shows that you are reaching out to identify a potential way to help them which they may not be thinking about PARAGRAPH #3: Shares specific, clear value proposition which includes the problem you solve and the outcomes you deliver Why it works: people need to clearly understand what you do so they can decide for themselves if it makes sense to meet with you. Sharing generic outcomes without being direct or specific confuses and annoys prospects because they still don't know what you do after reading the e-mail. PARAGRAPH #4: Soft Call to Interest (CTI): Ask if they have ever given thought to what you wrote, and if they're open to discussing further. Why it works: Never assume that a prospect needs what you are selling. Instead, confirm whether they've thought about the problem you solve and are open to discussing further. A call to interest (CTI) is much softer than a call to action (CTA), such as asking them to meet before you've confirmed they even have a need or interest. Don't assume anything, just ask and validate first. Kudos to the seller for sending a well-written, thoughtful e-mail.
