Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science ???? At Divirod, we're proud to celebrate the incredible women on our team who are driving the future of water intelligence. Their dedication and expertise make a lasting impact, and we're grateful for everything they do ???????? ?? Ava Ray Jordan grew up by the ocean, exploring ecosystems, species, and cultures. Her love for understanding complex systems led her to a career dedicated to protecting the environment we all cherish. "We spend so much of our lives working, I wanted to dedicate mine to something both meaningful and essential— studying and protecting the very environments that so many people love, depend on, and cherish" ?? Danielle Thorpe discovered her passion for tech as a teenager, blending creativity and coding. What started as a hobby turned into a lifelong career in science and technology. "I have been enamored with technology and couldn't imagine working in a different field" ?? Amy Piscopo knows that diversity in science isn't just important— it's critical. More women and girls in STEM means more innovation, better solutions, and a stronger future for all. "Without women and girls in science, we're missing out on the potential of half the population" ?? As a young professional, Sofía Marti sees it as her responsibility to contribute to a field that creates a better, more sustainable future for her generation and those to come. "Our world is irreplaceable, and protecting it isn't just a choice— it's a responsibility" To all the women in science: we see you, we celebrate you, and we need you ????????? #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience #WomeninScience

Did you know a city of 11 million people relies on just five active waterway gages? This leaves critical gaps in flood monitoring—particularly in vulnerable environmental justice communities ??? After the heavy rains and flash floods #NYC experienced in 2024, it's clear that we need better monitoring in 2025. In?our latest white paper,?"Evaluating the Water Level Gage Network Density of New York City,"?we described our data-driven solutions such as: ?? Strategic placement of sensors in flood-prone areas ?? Smarter monitoring with our Water Level Index ?? Enhanced coverage to protect critical infrastructure Check out the article to explore how closing these gaps can save lives and support climate resilience ??

Every great story has a beginning, and ours is no different. What better way to start 2025 than by sharing ours? ???? It all started with Divirod LLC, registered on June 26, 2016, with operations officially kicking off in January 2017. Fast forward to December 18, 2020, and Divirod Inc. was born. But where did the spark for this journey come from? In our new series, Charting Our Waters, we’re going behind the scenes to share a fresh perspective on how Divirod grew from an idea to a pioneer in water intelligence ?? To kick things off, we sat down with the visionary behind it all, our CEO?Javier Marti, to uncover how Divirod came to life. Don’t miss the article below for a glimpse into original sensor sketches and photos, plus an in-depth look at the early days—told through Javier’s eyes ??

As we close the chapter on #2024 and look ahead to #2025, we’re reminded of the critical role water monitoring plays in building a sustainable future. Flooding in 2024 impacted over 45 countries, resulting in the tragic loss of 1,000+ lives, displacing millions, and causing damages exceeding hundreds of billions of dollars ?? We know our data has the power to help reduce these numbers, and we’re committed to working tirelessly to make it happen. But we couldn’t do it without our incredible partners, team, clients, and supporters. Thank you all for your unwavering dedication to our mission this year, we’re in this together ?? Happy Holidays and best wishes for a bright and impactful 2025. Thank you for being part of this journey with us! ????

Why does New York City, a city of 11 million, have just 5 active waterway gages for flood monitoring? Our latest white paper, "Evaluating the Water Level Gage Network Density of New York City," authored by our amazing Data Scientists Alex Truby and Amy Piscopo, dives into the current state of water level monitoring in hashtag#NYC ?? and presents innovative solutions to address critical gaps in gage coverage. Key Highlights: ?? NYC has only five active water level gages along waterways for its vast metropolitan area, creating significant blind spots in flood monitoring and early warning systems. ?? Using a spatial statistics approach, we analyzed water level data with Divirod’s proprietary Water Level Index, proposing an ideal radius of coverage for accurate monitoring. ?? Our findings reveal major gaps along NYC’s coastline, particularly in flood-prone and underserved Environmental Justice areas ? ?? What We Recommend: 1?? Increasing the density of water level gages with a focus on flood evacuation zones and vulnerable communities. 2?? Prioritizing critical infrastructure like hospitals and utilities for sensor deployment. 3?? Leveraging real-time, uniform data for smarter flood risk mitigation and climate adaptation strategies. ?
