It was an honor to show my support on International Women's Day 2025 at SXSW panels celebrating women in sport: ?? “A League of Her Own” and ?? “Minding Her Sports Business.” These panels were facilitated by DivInc at Downtown Austin Alliance’s DASA location where powerhouse women in sports shared their journeys, insights, and impact on the industry. The panel featured exceptional leaders, including: ? Fran Harris – A former WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) champion, dynamic entrepreneur, and sports broadcaster who continues to shape the future of women’s sports. ? Laura Dixon – A longtime force in sports business, from her work with the San Antonio Spurs to championing leadership and inclusion through Pro Sports Assembly. ? Monica Rodgers - A former WNBA champion, college coach, recently name the first general manager of the Toronto Tempo. ? Yolanda Moore, M.S. – A former WNBA player and two-time championship-winning coach. … and all game-changers who are paving the way for the next generation of women in sports. Their stories reinforced the importance of representation, leadership, and breaking barriers in the sports industry. In late February, I spent a half a day with the staff and speaking with students talking about preparing for their next steps in their journey by sharing my personal experiences. Entitled, "Lions, Tigers and Bears! Oh My!" I think we had engaging and vulnerable conversations throughout the day. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and generated more excitement about the future. Now, I've done maybe three dozen engagements at various universities for the over the many years and I have never been so overwhelmed?by any group as much as this Texas State University family! I hope each day that I can inspire at least one person in some positive?way, just one out of the many you engage during the course of a day in your life. TxST poured some serious love on me! TWENTY FOUR Thank You cards from the students?!?!?!? WHAT?!!! WOW!!! Rest assure, I sat down and read every single one of those heartfelt notes!!! This is surely going to be one of the most memorable and gratifying?things I have experienced.?It may not be much to others, but for me, this means the world to me! Thank you! Big thanks to the wonder TxST staff and huge shout out to the students for not just making my day, but this is going to be amongst tops in 2025 for me!!! This is right from their hearts straight to mine!!! I won't even talk about the timing of receiving?these words of appreciation!
