Mental health challenges, sadness, stress, or difficult emotions are normal and part of being human. Take your time, be kind to yourself, and remember that it's okay to have tough times and give yourself permission to not always be feeling your best.
关于我们
Diversus Health was established 145 years ago, when we were named the Springs Relief Society. At the time, we were known for delivering coal, lumber, and clothing to our community’s most vulnerable. Today, we are the largest behavioral health care provider in El Paso, Park, and Teller counties, in Colorado. Our brand, Diversus Health, is rooted in championing the diverse experiences each stakeholder brings to their mental health journey. We recognize the value that life experiences play in mental health and seek to leverage that value in aiding our clients with their needs. Our continuum of care focuses on four core services involving addiction, counseling, crisis management, and psychiatric therapy. Each service area maintains a wide range of unique wellness programs and initiatives for our clients.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Transgender activist Gwendolyn Ann Smith organized the first vigil for this day in San Francisco in 1999 to commemorate the life of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. Trans folx have continued to be targeted with violence and discrimination, and many trans people have been killed since, including two folx from our own community: Daniel Aston and Kelly Loving. Today, we remember all those we have lost to this violence, and we carry them with us.

Two years have passed since November 19th/20th, 2022, when the Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ community lost five beautiful people. Daniel Aston, Kelly Loving, Ashley Paugh, Derrick Rump, and Raymond Green Vance lost their lives, and many others were injured. Our community still carries this trauma, from the survivors who are still here with us to the folx who lost loved ones. Two years later, we remember these five beautiful people and we carry them with us. We continue to fight for the LGBTQ+ community to be affirmed and protected, and we continue to pioneer new safe spaces where everyone can access the resources and support they need.

In order to heal emotional pain, trauma, or unresolved feelings, you first need to allow yourself to fully experience and confront those emotions. Suppressing or avoiding painful feelings can delay or prevent healing, whereas acknowledging and processing those emotions is an essential part of recovery. This concept is rooted in the idea that emotional healing is a process that requires self-awareness and acceptance of what you're going through. It encourages people to not bottle up their feelings, but instead to allow themselves to feel what they are experiencing.

Diversus Health was recently featured in The Fairplay Flume, highlighting our expanded in-person office hours in Fairplay and Bailey. This new development means that community members can now meet face-to-face with licensed counselors without needing to travel to Colorado Springs or rely solely on telehealth. Our team is offering same-day assessments, allowing people to walk in, receive an evaluation, and get connected to care quickly. It’s a big step forward in making mental health care more accessible in rural Colorado. We’ve heard from residents that they value the chance to sit down in person, connect, and feel truly heard. While telehealth remains an important tool, the response to in-person services has shown us that people appreciate the personal touch. Together with local schools, and partners like the Park County Mental Health Alliance, we’re working to build a supportive, accessible network of care for Park County! #ColoradoMentalHealth #RuralHealth #ParkCounty

Anxiety is common and treatable. Managing anxiety involves deep breathing, grounding techniques, and mindful awareness. Break tasks into small steps, practice self-compassion, and focus on what you can control. #AnxietySupport #therapy #BreatheDeeply
