Diversify the Future Foundation has proudly awarded its first $40,000 STEM scholarship. ? Our inaugural recipient, Aaliyah Williams from Lane Tech College Prep in Chicago, will be attending North Carolina Agricultural and State University to study Computer Science. She hopes to become a Software Engineer and is passionate about combatting biases against minorities through computer science. ? With strong competition from over 300 other applicants across Chicago, Aaliyah should be very proud of her achievement.? ? At Diversify the Future we are shaping the future of STEM. The scholarship, worth a total of $40,000 aims to empower the next generation of diverse talent in the industry by providing access to STEM education. Progress in increasing the overall percentage of women in engineering roles has been slow, with an average increase of only 1% every two years ? Approximately 73% of female engineers have experienced some form of discrimination, harassment, or victimization at work International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women but also to raise awareness of the work we still need to do to achieve equality.
