关于我们

The Diverse Mentoring Initiative (DMI) is a summer associate program that pairs diverse first-year law students with top Plaintiff’s firms in Pennsylvania. The DMI program is intended for law students who meet one or more of the following criteria: those who have faced challenges including, but not limited to, life situations in which their opportunities were diminished significantly by factors beyond their control, such as socio-economic status, discrimination, sparse academic resources or opportunities, and/or other similar adverse circumstances on their path to a legal career. DMI is supported by the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, & the Northeastern PA Trial Lawyers Association.

Thank you, Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law, for inviting us back for the Lawyers in the Lobby Program! I’m always excited whenever I get to talk to law students about the Diverse Mentoring Initiative and plug our incredible, ever-growing, member firms and share a little bit about the inspirational work they do!

The Career Strategies Office was thrilled to host Trial Attorney, Amanda Jonas Lorentson of VSCP LAW and Lorraine Wangemann for our Lawyers in the Lobby Program. Amanda met with Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law students to share details about the Pennsylvania Association for Justice's Diverse Mentoring Initiative, a program she founded in 2022. PAJ's DMI is a statewide program that pairs first-year law students from diverse backgrounds with leading Plaintiff’s firms in the Commonwealth of PA. Our 1Ls were excited to learn about this opportunity and we all appreciated the cookies!

I was honored to speak at the 2024 PDLG Boot Camp, where I had the privilege of sharing insights on an area of law that students may not often encounter—victim advocacy within the civil justice system—and the vital role plaintiff lawyers play in pursuing accountability and driving positive societal change. Working at a firm like VSCP LAW where our commitment to justice and dedication to our clients guides everything we do, reinforces the importance of this work every day.

PDLG welcomes them to the Philadelphia Legal Community.

Yesterday, our mentees had the incredible opportunity to attend “To Boldly Go: The Next Generation of Philadelphia Trial Lawyers.” This inspiring event was moderated by Kevin Harden, Jr., sponsored by Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky, and organized by Stacy Hughes. Our distinguished panel of elite plaintiffs lawyers from top Philadelphia firms shared invaluable advice, discussing the unique highs and lows of personal injury work and reflecting on their experiences as diverse lawyers in a predominantly non-diverse field. We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and participants for inspiring and energizing the next generation of leaders.
