Hofstra University has joined the OCLC Research Library Partnership (RLP). Its University Library stands at the forefront of supporting the university's mission to foster intellectual growth and discovery. As the main hub for scholarly resources on campus, the library offers expertise and access to a wide range of materials and services, ensuring that students and faculty have the tools they need for success in research, teaching, and learning. By joining the RLP, Hofstra University Library is able to participate in leadership conversations to support excellence in metadata management, special collections, research support, and resource sharing. The Library will also extend its reach through SHARES, a global resource-sharing consortium. This partnership grants Hofstra’s faculty access to collections housed in member academic libraries, law libraries, art institutes, and museums around the world. Faculty researchers now benefit from a vast network of scholarly materials that go beyond the holdings of a single institution, significantly enhancing their ability to conduct in-depth research. "As a member of the RLP and the SHARES consortium, Hofstra University Library is pleased to offer our faculty and students greater access to the breadth of expertise and resources from world-class member institutions," said Lorrie McAllister, Dean of the University Library. "This partnership enhances our ability to work with other member institutions and to support scholarly inquiry and the research mission of Hofstra University. We look forward to learning from and collaborating with our new partner libraries." A multinational community of research libraries, the RLP is dedicated to improving library practice through professional development, collaborative research, and information sharing. The RLP supports focused programming and research in four areas crucial to research libraries – research support, unique and distinctive collections, resource sharing, and next generation metadata. #EngagedLibraries help their communities get voter ready. ??? Public libraries can play an important role in supporting civic engagement by participating in National Voter Registration Day. This nonpartisan civic holiday is held every year in September to celebrate democracy and help more people participate by offering resources, hosting registration drives, and providing information on voting requirements. Columbus Metropolitan Library in Ohio and Camden County Library System in New Jersey are just two examples of libraries that participated this year. These libraries teamed up with other organizations, including local groups and the American Library Association’s #ReaderVoterReady campaign, to help residents register to vote.
