Last week was a busy one for DCSEU staff, attending four events across the District for a variety of audiences. Here's a look at Wesley Housing's One Hawaii groundbreaking from last Tuesday that staff, Yvonne Coles and Ronald Hobson attended. Wesley Housing, alongside partners from Bonstra l Haresign ARCHITECTS and James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS) celebrated the 70-unit, multifamily community for households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). We are happy to have Wesley Housing as a customer and are looking forward to assisting this wonderful project with energy efficiency incentives in the future.

Give a big congratulations to Anna-Marie, Owner and Principal Broker at AREA Real Estate DC, a full-service real estate brokerage CBE who was able to get her LEED GA at no-cost through Train Green at the DCSEU! Congrats on your successes Anna-Marie!
This Spring and Summer has been active! I have made a decision to make this my year of education. I have had the pleasure of graduating from Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) ELEVATE program earlier this Spring to learn specific skills and connections to scale my business forward. Thanks to one of my cohort graduates, I was able to take advantage of my CBE status to obtain my LEED GA accreditation via DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU). In addition to learning how to continue to establish and maintain more energy efficient commercial buildings, I wanted to establish the foundation with my certificate in building science principles via The Building Performance Institute. Any one that's trying to get their business certified knows that the turn around time from application to approval can be months, so it was a nice surprise to see my company received its HUB ZONE certification via U.S. Small Business Administration. We still have four more months to go before 2025!!
