Behind every road paved, bus lane installed, and safety initiative launched, there’s a dedicated team ensuring our workforce is supported. As our HR team says, "We are HR, the heart of DDOT. We focus on our people, providing the resources and support they need to succeed. This would not be possible without the the dedication and hard work of the resilient women of HR. Happy Women's History Month!" Their work empowers the women across our agency—from engineers to planners—who are shaping the future of transportation in #DC.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT)'s Director Sharon Kershbaum, along with Transportation Planners Kimberly Vacca and Kelsey Bridges joined the Adams Morgan Business Improvement District to celebrate 20 years of service! Congrats to Kimberly, recipient of the Community Impact Award, for her work in expanding access to public space through the Streateries program during the COVID-19 emergency. Her work helped businesses and created more outdoor dining opportunities when DC needed them most. DDOT remains committed to working with our community partners to reimagine public space and support safe streets for all.

Today, District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Director Sharon Kershbaum joined regional leaders at the Capital Region Transportation Forum hosted by the Greater Washington Board of Trade. In a panel with transportation officials from Maryland, Virginia, and WMATA, Director Kershbaum shared #DDOTDC's vision for a safer, greener, and more accessible transit network in DC and explored how regional partnerships strengthen mobility across the #DMV. We’re piloting a fresh new look for the streateries on 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan! This week, 33 businesses along the corridor have begun removing their existing structures to enhance them with improved safety, accessibility, and aesthetics. Starting Monday, they’ll begin installing the new, upgraded setups—but don’t worry, each space will still reflect its unique charm with plants, decor, and lighting. The Florida Avenue NE and NewYork Avenue NE Intersection Project provides safer, more efficient transportation options to all roadway users in the District. Phase 4 of the project went into effect on July 27, with First Street NE and Florida Ave NE open to two-way traffic.
