After a weekend of thrilling competition, William Fremd High School from Palatine claimed the inaugural IHSA State Championship with a 24-12 victory over Guilford High School from Rockford in the finals. Congratulations to all the participating teams on a successful and exciting season, and for their contributions to growing the sport. ? Final Results: ?? 1st Place: William Fremd High School (Palatine) ?? 2nd Place: Guildford High School (Rockford) ?? 3rd Place: Whitney M. Young Magnet High School (Chicago) ?? 4th Place: Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School District 307 (Bradley) ? In addition to celebrating athletic achievements, the Chicago Bears partnered with Greta Warren and the American Heart Association on Saturday morning to host a hands-only CPR training event at Willowbrook High School. Over 100 young athletes and coaches participated in the training, gaining vital life-saving skills. To further emphasize heart health and safety, each team received CPR kits and grants for purchasing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). This initiative aims to empower these athletes and their communities to be better prepared for emergencies, both on and off the field. ?? ?? ??
Palatine High School today unveiled a new donor-funded board highlighting the achievements of students in its acclaimed Project Excel program. The program, which further empowers first-generation college students, has seen several original scholars return as educators themselves. The Board specifically is named for Sue Quinlan, who is a retired school counselor from Palatine High School. So grateful to the District 211 Foundation donors who help students reach their goals and the individuals who make it all come together!
Inspired by Palatine High School alumnus Jesus Ortega, his employer Ally Financial helped put together an outstanding and motivational program for more than 250 students from several D211 schools. The program included a panel discussion featuring Ally employees from across the nation, who afterward gathered to celebrate students and PHS in the school's Project Excel room. Project Excel helps prepare and inspire first-generation college students. Through recent and significant donor contributions and partnerships like this one, the program is excelling — and so are its alumni.
We're ending the academic week with an A+ as District 211 celebrates being ranked #7 for the Best School Districts in Illinois. This ranking not only relies on test scores and academic performance, but also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education.
