Welcome back to the team, Mark Betancourt! Previously a Fellow, Mark joins Distributed Sun as a Project Finance and Development Manager. In his new role, Mark will be responsible for asset counterparty due diligence as well as project finance modeling. Bringing his analytical, data-driven approach, Mark will help to ensure that deals are vetted and financially sound. Mark is also no stranger to leadership in mission-critical roles, serving the U.S. Merchant Marine and Navy Reserve as a reserve Strategic Sealift Officer, a highly specialized line officer designation focused on merchant vessel operations and worldwide military logistics; overseeing 30,000hp+ engineering plants and maintaining 11 million square feet of military cargo space across 50 naval vessels. Mark recently earned his STEM MBA from Cornell University, with distinction. He also holds a BS in Marine Engineering from United States Merchant Marine Academy. "I'm very passionate about renewable energy and the strategies needed to cultivate new investments," said Mark.
