As we reach the end of the cranberry harvesting season and the beginning of Thanksgiving preparations, we’re excited to highlight these beautiful berries from our Black Cat Agrivoltaics Project! These cranberries’ tart flavor will make them a favorite in Thanksgiving sauces, stuffings, and jams. Following traditional practices, they were grown underwater in a Massachusetts bog. Less traditionally, they grew ten feet under 1 MW of solar panels that provided clean, sustainable energy to the local community. As we work with the University of Massachusetts to research further integration of cranberry farming with agrivoltaics, this project shows that with thoughtful planning we can cultivate local harvests and sustainable power side by side. #cranberry #cranberries #solarenergy #solar #agrivoltaics #farmer #cleanenergy
