DISCUS hosted Cormac Healy, director of Drinks Ireland - Ibec, and Eoin ó Catháin, director of the Irish Whiskey Association, in Washington DC and coordinated a joint meeting with officials at USTR. The meeting with USTR provided an opportunity to reiterate the shared U.S. and EU spirits sector opposition to tariffs on distilled spirits and highlight why the U.S. should exempt imported spirits from any new or additional tariffs. Our Irish colleagues noted the EU spirits sector’s collective efforts to urge the EU not to reimpose its tariff on American Whiskeys and impose new tariffs on other U.S. spirits.
