Not only is she a recent City of Austin/DLM Certificate grad, she’s about to be our newest instructor in Tennessee and on virtual classes everywhere! We’re so grateful this bright, kind and brilliant professional will spend some of her time facilitating our classes. We graduated 38 people this morning, small business owners earning a Business Skills Certificate from the City of Austin in partnership with DLM! This week, we want to highlight some of the entrepreneurs we have been working with as they launch and refresh their own businesses. This is rewarding work and one of our favorite recent participants came to class from Brazil, by way of the Bay Area in California. Lecy Brito is a celebrated, successful designer and artist with her work featured in design trades and even the New York Times. It's not always glamorous and as a gifted artist she often spent hours working from a tall ladder or moving heavy equipment. Before she moved to Texas, Lecy Brito's doctor told her it would be best to stay off the ladders. Then Covid hit. And she set about reframing her work and her goals. Lecy is making the shift to culinary arts, while keeping her design business in place, to allow for sustained growth. We're so inspired by her story - and her cupcakes!
