PACK EXPO 2024 was just incredible. With 70,000 people and 2,700 suppliers all under one roof, I learned so much. The path forward for sustainable packaging is going to be both multifaceted and complex, but it’s clear that the need for standardization is huge. I had no idea that terms like recycled, recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable can mean so many different things depending on country and even state policies and regulations. There’s so much work to be done! But the best part is seeing how many smart, passionate people are actively working on solutions.Including the 2 companies I have the pleasure to work for. This halloween we're celebrating no tricks, all treats! That's because we're handing out candy from our North Carolina-based facilities wrapped in our plastic-free, dissolving film. Tomorrow's halloween litter will dissolve in water without leaving a trace. Happy Halloween! ??????

Have you heard of the Pods are Plastic Bill? It could restrict sales of laundry and dishwasher pods in NYC to limit micro and nanoplastic pollution. Polyvinyl Alcohol (otherwise called PVA or PVOH), a water-soluble polymer used in pods and films, passes through wastewater treatment, releasing microplastics directly into our water supply. This first-of-its-kind ban, spearheaded by Blueland, paves the way for brands to seek price-competitive, plastic-free alternatives. That's where we come in. We’re making the right choice the easy choice by commercializing the world's first all-natural, dissolvable films for food packaging. To us, the “right” choice is single-use film packaging that doesn’t generate plastic pollution in our bodies or environment. The “easy” choice is cost-competitive, scalable, and convenient. We deliver both. Yesterday, we were joined by our venture partners Big Idea Ventures Generation Food Rural Partners Fund (GFRP) in our food-safe Raleigh, North Carolina facilities to share our newest material and edible prototypes. Our team of Solvers are hard at work creating a future where convenience doesn’t come with compromise and plastics aren’t forever.
