So promoting nachos in 2024 is going to help sell more weed? Umm ok ??

Out with the old and in with the new. If one of your goals in 2024 is to increase sales conversions via text marketing, here are some simple and effortless things we like to do each week to improve our clients conversion rates: 1. Include more product images. Might seem too simple, but we routinely see increased click to sales % when an image of a product is included as opposed to just typing out the brands and the offer. Do you ever see McDonalds promote a special offer by typing out "Big Mac for $2 this Friday." No, they never miss an opportunity to show off a juicy burger. Thats what gets people craving (unless you are a vegetarian lol). Less words, more images of amazing quality cannabis products please. 2. Less is more We see better sales conversion % on messages and ads that promote just 2 to 3 brands/products. You can drive more sales by breaking up your weekly promotions into multiple segmented texts rather than listing everything out in the one single campaign. Including every deal in one message may be more time efficient, but promoting less brands and deals in a single text simply helps the customer's buying decision less complicated and gets better ROI. 3. Manufacture memorable themes and experiences. While its great to have cannabis holidays to boost sales like 4/20, 7/10 etc. If you've noticed a dip in your sales via sms marketing, it could just be that the repetition of your promotions are no longer resonating with customers. Manufactured themes when appropriate give a little sales boost. For example, on Munchie Mondays it might also be "National Nachos Day" or "National go on a Hike Day" so we promote that as the central theme. Nachos are indeed better when stoned right? (maybe throw in a fun Nacho Libre Gif). Makes the message fresh and fun without changing your daily deals. 2024 is going to be the year of fun. Happy New Year!

Text marketing opt outs are inevitable. What are you doing to reduce churn rates though?

Maybe once a week I talk with a dispensary operator that says they are afraid to text customers because they don't want them to opt out… The truth is you can’t avoid customers opting out, sorry. It's gonna happen. But what are you doing to reduce your opt out rate? Here are some of my favorite things to do to reduce opt out rates and keep customers enrolled long term in your text program: 1. Re-name your text program as a “Text Rewards” program. This simple change in how you label it can have a profound effect on how customers interact with your texts. If your texts become synonymous with “rewards” more often than not customers look forward to getting your messages and aren't annoyed by them. In simple terms, make it sound fun. 2. Create a long term offer that is only available by STAYING opted in. Most dispensaries will just give a one time or some loyalty points for signing up for the text program. You lose leverage after that one time offer is used. We like to use a “stickier” offer for example: Free Joints on Fridays for Text Rewards members only! (I know you can't give cannabis away for free but come up with a creative offer that keeps them opted in to get an exclusive perk each week). 3.?Reward customers for clicking your links in your texts. If specific customers are routinely clicking your texts this is a great opportunity to reward them for doing so and “condition” them to want to continue clicking more often. Segment these customers out every now and then and show your appreciation by giving them some type of unique and exclusive offer. It will be unexpected and it will delight them in a new way.?They will be less inclined to opt out. You can't completely negate opt outs but if your opt out rates are around 2-3% per campaign, its time to make a change and see if you can reduce it to below 1%. More opt ins = More ??

Might seem obvious, but if you operate marketing for a dispensary and want to end the year strong, you NEED your text messages to deliver well. If text message deliverability has been a concern recently here are 3 easy things you can do ASAP that could save you hundreds of $$ in text costs over the next week while still generating additional revenue: 1. Target your best click through audience. Why? For one, if a customer is clicking your text links then you 100% know that text was delivered to their phone. Customers who also click links don't opt out, which if you didn't know yet, high opt out rates trigger phone carriers that your numbers could be spam. Segment CTR audiences WITH visit recently, categories etc. You’ll spend less and still make more. Plus you can go back to that audience segment over and over again without compromising deliverability. 2. Use new MMS images and text templates. MMS delivers better overall than just SMS, but odds are you are probably using the same image over and over again, which carriers once again think you are spam. Please mix it up. Insert new and fresh MMS images to keep carriers guessing and avoid spam filtering.?Plus customers like seeing things that look new which also reduces opt outs and helps delivery. 3. Pay attention to your CTR so you can make adjustments quickly. You CANNOT have a passive relationship with text marketing in cannabis. DON'T just hit send and check results a few days later before the next text. If text delivery performs poorly it's too late to retarget and drive more sales. If your provider does not display delivery results, take your avg CTR on past campaigns and track against it. For example if you avg 10% CTR on most messages and your holiday blast did 2% CTR, then it most likely failed and you’ll need your provider to make quick adjustments on your sending numbers. Don’t settle! Remember more clicks = more sales. Best of luck out there I know the up and downs are frustrating. If you really really need help figuring out who and when to send your texts on a limited budget I should have time today and Saturday to quickly take a look. Happy Holidays!
