Ah, the milkman. A common character trope of the early 20th century that many associate with packaging reuse. Throughout our years of collecting packaging, a few have commented to us: “Hey! You are like the modern-day milkman!” This is a good analogy in our minds.??? For our latest blog post, we give a high-level overview of why the milkman model, or packaging reuse, went away in the first place, and how it is coming back. Bringing back the milkman model not only cuts down on carbon emissions and plastic waste, but it also saves businesses on packaging costs. It’s a win-win all around. Spread the word. Earlier this year we partnered with Mealogic to help them switch to a reusable bag system. Jared Crabtree, the Director of Supply Chain and Packaging Operations, was kind enough to do a Q&A with us on the transition. We asked him how switching to reusable bags has positively impacted the business and their customer experience. Here's his response: "Switching to reusable?bags has helped us simplify our packaging supply chain and improved our bottom line.?We have less vendors and place fewer orders due to the reused product coming back from Dispatch Goods.?Our customers are pleased with less packaging filling their trash and recycling."
