Shining a light on Endoglin (aka CD105) for #FluorescenceFriday. Endoglin (here shown in red using #animalfree Ankyron? ANK00708_1_AY40419 and nuclei in blue) is highly expressed in vascular endothelial cells such as these HUVEC and plays a crucial role in angiogenesis, vascular development, adhesion and TGFβ signaling. Endoglin is overexpressed in tumour-associated blood vessels, making it a potential target for anti-angiogenic therapies. Aberrant release of the soluble form into the blood is detected in preeclampsia, contributing to endothelial dysfunction.
