Trauma can arise from military service, accidents, abuse, or other experiences - manifesting suddenly or developing gradually - but it is not always visible, and its triggers can vary widely. Focusing on this, we invited our corporate partner community for a webinar, Moving On: Embracing Disability Identity Following Traumatic Events, as thought leaders explored the effects of trauma and its manifestation in the workplace. Thank you to Stephen Peacock (of Edelman Financial Engines) for moderating this engaging conversation, and to the speakers Curtis Kelley, M.A. (of TD SYNNEX), Michelle Berrett (of Pfizer), Victor Calise, PLY (of Walmart) for driving this discussion forward! The Runway of Dreams' 10th-anniversary event was an absolute hit! Disability:IN was thrilled to be represented by our Inclusion Works Coordinator, Ashley Kingston, who was able to attend this amazing celebration of #DisabilityInclusion in fashion. The event provided a space and opportunity to embrace our differences, challenge stereotypes, and showcase the power of #Adaptive products and #InclusiveDesign. What an evening! I’m still in awe after attending the 10th anniversary of the Runway of Dreams event in Brooklyn, NY. Madison Telvin, the host, truly rocked it! You might recognize her from the viral commercial, "Assume I can, so maybe I will!" With #NewYorkFashionWeek in full swing, the spotlight on fashion and beauty is at an all-time high. I’m thrilled that there is a dedicated space for disability inclusion in the fashion and beauty industries. The event showcased individuals representing the spectrum of disability while celebrating that fashion and beauty are for everyone. It also highlights the importance of ensuring brands include adaptive and universal design products and collections. My main takeaway from the event is: Anyone deserves to feel and look confident and sexy, regardless of disability! Thank you, Disability:IN, for giving me the opportunity to attend this spectacular event and for connecting me with like-minded people who are part of this movement.
