A Movement to make Pennsylvania Disability PROUD!
关于我们
Disability Pride is a movement! More than just a means of self advocacy and a push for acceptance, Disability Pride is above all a celebration of inclusion and disabled people who are proud to be themselves! Our mission is to celebrate the pride that the disability community feels. It's a place for us to come together to celebrate the disability experience. What makes our programming different from others is that we plan accessible community events to bring disabled and non-disabled people together. Come out for the fun and pick up some great resources along the way! We believe that bringing people together in fun ways builds stronger communities; these communities have better conversations. Our programs provide spaces for advocacy, celebration, and some good trouble! We have created a growing momentum that is being recognized, promoted, and sought out by other organizations to understand disability inclusion. Let’s make Pennsylvania Disability PROUD!

Our 12th annual celebration, #Disability #Pride #Philadelphia, was held on the Parkway with over a thousand people in attendance! It was beautiful to see so many amazing people having fun, chatting, and enjoying the day! We want to give a special shout out to Sheila Hess for being an amazing emcee! We heard from State Reps Tarik S. Khan and Joseph Hohenstein, Voting Commissioner LISA MARIE DEELEY, Liberty Resources Inc CEO Thomas Earle, Comcast’s Meghan Mirsch, Highmark Wholecare Jennifer Rogers, The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies’s Germán Parodi, and Disability Rights Pennsylvania’s Alicia Ingiosi. We rocked out to #music by Simon Bonenfant with Jeremy Raves and Black Cat Habitat; but missed out on Gooch and the Motion, and Ryan Gilfillian. Thank you to the Caravan for Disability Justice and Freedom for spending the day with us! They spoke about voting issues that affect the disability community and telling the Pennsylvania disability history timeline. Our day came to a screeching halt as a wild wind and rain storm came blaring down the street. We hope everyone made it home safely. If you are missing anything, we have a small box of items. Special thank you the amazing #volunteers, to those of you that stayed to help, and passerby’s that pitched in. It reminds us that there are amazing people in our city. Thank you to City of Philadelphia’s Office of Special Events, the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the Philadelphia Streets Dept for helping us make the space safe and enjoyable for all. Thank you to NBC News for this highlight. https://lnkd.in/e8iu6pCP
